YOUTH EMPLOYMENT CONNECT – TRAINING FOR JOBS (YEC-TFJ)

Youth Employment Connect – Training for Jobs (YEC-TFJ) project provides individualized guided support and structured group-based training to young adults aged 17 – 29 (inclusive) to pursue sustainable employment in two growing sectors in BC: Marketing & Sales (M&S) and Information & Communication Technology (ICT).

What we offer:

Financial Support

  • Transit fare for training and job interviews
  • Criminal record check (when required by the employer)

Employer Hiring Incentives

  • Employer Wage Subsidy available as a hiring incentive and support for sustainable employment

Sector 1: MARKETING & SALES (M&S)

  • 3 weeks of Group-Base Skills Training
    • Marketing & Sales Sector-Specific Skills
    • Soft Skills
    • Job Search & Job Maintenance Skills
  • 4 weeks of One-on-One Support, Intensive Job Search and Individualized Coaching
  • Plus 16 weeks of ongoing follow up

Sector 2:  INFORMATION & COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY (ICT)

  • 3 weeks of Group-Base Skills Training
    • ICT Sector-Specific Skills
    • Soft Skills
    • Workplace Essential & Job Maintenance Skills
  • 4 weeks of One-on-One Support, Intensive Job Search and Individualized Coaching
  • Plus 16 weeks of ongoing follow up

Eligibility

  • A young adult between the ages of 17-29 inclusive
  • A Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident or Protected Person
  • Unemployed or Underemployed
  • Not a full-time student
  • Not participating in another provincially or federally funded labour market program
  • Residents of Greater Vancouver Regional District
  • Have education, experience related to the Marketing & Sales sector or ICT sector
