CHANCE TO CHOOSE: A YOUTH EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM

Chance to Choose: A Youth Employment Program aims to help youth overcome barriers to employment through assessments, group based skills development and work experience with local employers. Youth receive a paid living allowance and wages during their entire time in the program.

What we offer:

Phase 1: Paid Training (4 weeks)
  • Life skills workshops
  • Employability skills workshops
  • Certification training: (additional certifications subject to funding)
    • First Aid
    • Super Host
Phase 2: Work Experience with an Employer (10 weeks)
  • 10 weeks of paid work experience
  • Entry Level Positions
  • Touch back sessions (paid) every Friday at the office for continued training
Phase 3: 12-Week Follow-up
  • 12 week follow-up for employment guidance and help after the program ends

Eligibility

  • Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or Refugee Status (with Permanent Residency and Permanent SIN)
  • Between ages of 15 and 30 (inclusive)
  • Not in receipt of EI in the last five years
  • Not currently working more than 20 hours per week
  • Commitment and flexible schedule
  • No previous participation in a skills link program
