S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Employment Services (SES) started to assist job seekers to overcome employment barriers in 1984. From job finding club service helping only Chinese Immigrants to prepare resumes, SES is now a culturally diverse service team providing career development guidance services for all job seekers. Based on social work values, SES has incorporated a client-centered, behavioural oriented case management model to serve clients. In addition to various programs and services, SES has also developed a virtual resource website to give job seekers easy access to online resources. This range has made SES more accessible and user friendly.

With a diverse team of qualified, skilled and passionate staff in multiple locations, SES delivers services in a culturally sensitive manner to job seekers regardless of their cultural background and level of English language skills. Using a holistic service model that brings individuals, community partners and employers together, SES has helped job seekers achieve their career goals in today’s highly competitive labour market.

Active Career Connect and Engagement Project (ACCEP)

Active Career Connect and Engagement Project (ACCEP) provides services to both Immigrants and Employers.

ACCEP connects Internationally Trained Immigrants (ITIs) to employment opportunities that enhance their self-sufficiency to develop their careers in Canada by offering the following services:

  • Paid Work Placement
  • Personalized Career Development Action Plan
  • Individualized Support and Guidance
  • Networking Opportunities
  • Soft Skills Improvement
  • Canadian Workplace Culture Integration

Eligibility:

  • Internationally Trained Professionals who are either Permanent Residents or Canadian Citizens in British Columbia and Ontario
  • Lack of Canadian Work Experience in their intended or related field
  • Unemployed, or
  • Working less than 20 hours per week

ACCEP assists employers in recruiting, training and retaining Internationally Trained Immigrants (ITIs) in the current labor market by offering the following services:

  • Wage Subsidy Support
  • Pre-screened candidates
  • Access to diverse talent pools

Beneficiaries:

– Naturalized citizens and newcomer immigrants

– Graduated post-secondary international students with valid open work permits

Eligibility:

– Unemployed or underemployed (working 20hr/week or less)

– Legally live and work in Canada

– Have transferable skills to start professional career

– Possess intermediate to advanced level English

– Commitment to attend 2 cohort sessions (See the posted flyer image for the schedule)

FCR Loan Project

The SUCCESS Foreign Credential Recognition (FCR) Loan Project is a S.U.C.C.E.S.S. initiative, sponsored by the Government of Canada to help Internationally Trained Professionals work in their field of expertise in Canada.

To be eligible for our program you must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or confirmed protected refugee who is resident in BC, has foreign credentials and requires a loan to support their accreditation/credentialing plan.

Our Project supports clients with active case management, the preparation of an accreditation plan, offering of workshops, mentoring and coaching, networking and connection with peers, associations and people in the same field who are aiming to get their credentials recognised.

Once a client’s needs are ascertained, we offer a competitive loan through our financial partners Vancity to cover the costs and expenses of the listed stages and steps in the accreditation plan. The loan is only eligible for things associated with your credentialing and accreditation e.g. books, courses, trainings, workshops and exams, it cannot be used for living cost or anything not FCR related.

The loan is within the range of $1,000.00 – $15,000.00 depending on each client’s needs, it is Prime + 2% and repayment to Vancity is immediate upon disbursement with up to 48 months repayment period depending on the total amount disbursed and the clients financial ability.

The first step to joining the program is booking an appointment with a case manager at our office and coming in for registration and assessment to determine your needs and how we can help you.

Student Placement Program (SPP)

For over 10 years, S.U.C.C.E.S.S. has been coordinating and delivering the Student Placement Program (SPP) for post-secondary students from various academic disciplines including social work, psychology, criminology, communications, translations and liberal arts. A number of distinguished universities have sent students to complete their fieldwork placements at S.U.C.C.E.S.S.

S.U.C.C.E.S.S.’ placement program provides post-secondary students who have a passion for making a positive impact in their community with hands-on work experience in a culturally diverse environment. Working with different universities in the past, S.U.C.C.E.S.S. has provided a positive learning environment for students, allowing them to not only successfully complete their fieldwork placements as part of their academic studies, but also enhance their personal and career development as well.

S.U.C.C.E.S.S. YOUTH EMPLOYMENT CONNECT – TRAINING FOR JOBS (YEC-TFJ)

Youth Employment Connect – Training for Jobs (YEC-TFJ) project provides individualized guided support and structured group-based training to young adults aged 18 – 24 (inclusive) to pursue sustainable employment in two growing sectors in BC: Marketing & Sales (M&S) and Information & Communication Technology (ICT).  The project is accessible by participants from across the Greater Vancouver area including Vancouver, Burnaby, Surrey, Tri-Cities (Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam and Port Moody), Ridge-Meadows, and Richmond.

Financial Support

  • Transit fare for training and job interviews
  • Criminal record check (when required by the employer)
  • Contingency child care
  • Training completion bonus

Employer Hiring Incentives

  • Employer Wage Subsidy available as a hiring incentive and support for sustainable employment
