Funded by the Government of Canada, the project supports internationally trained professional immigrants to pursue their licensing and credentialing goals in Canada with a low-interest loan. The Project’s staff work with individual clients to map out an achievable plan to attain their licensing, credentialing and employment goals. Together with the financial institution partner, the Project provides clients with financial and integrated program support.

The FCR loan can be used to cover the following costs:
Tuition for short-term (two years or less) training
Exam fees with a professional governing association
Travel expenses to write an exam
Qualification assessments fees
Professional association fees
Books and course materials
Internationally trained professionals who meet the following criteria:
Canadian citizen, permanent resident in BC or an individual granted refugee status in Canada and who is legally permitted to work in Canada
Has obtained credentials outside of Canada; and
Is seeking to have his or her credentials recognized in Canada or is undertaking training for an alternative career or both.
