FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
May 3, 2017

S.U.C.C.E.S.S. New Adult Day Centre Named after Jackson Lam

Richmond, BC – S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Multi-Level Care Society is excited to receive a generous donation of $300,000 from Mrs. Ping Mah and the Lam’s family, a long time S.U.C.C.E.S.S. supporter. The donation will be designated to the new Adult Day Centre co-located at Austin Harris Residence, one of S.U.C.C.E.S.S.’s two senior assisted living projects. In recognition of the gift from the Lam’s family, this new Adult Day Centre will be named as S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Jackson Lam Adult Day Centre.

“We are very grateful for the remarkable and loving care our parents, Jackson and Yvonne Lam, have received at S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Simon K.Y. Lee Seniors Care Home. The donation for the new Adult Day Centre in Richmond is to show our appreciation and gratitude for S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Multi-Level Care Society and to honour our beloved father, Jackson Lam, ” said Ping Mah, the daughter of Jackson Lam.

Adult Day Programs are designed for older adults who may have complex physical and/or cognitive challenges or are living with chronic illnesses. These programs play a key role in allowing clients to remain living in the community as long as possible, optimizing their levels of physical, social and emotional function. In Richmond, aging trends indicate that the growth will not only continue but will accelerate over the next 25 years, leading to increasingly higher demand for services that support an older adult population. Currently in Richmond, the demand for adult day care service has exceeded the existing capacity, resulting in a long waiting list for eligible individuals.

“We really appreciate the generosity from the Lam family. The addition of Jackson Lam Adult Day Centre will help S.U.C.C.E.S.S. take a step closer towards establishing “A Campus of Care” in Richmond which enable seniors to age in place and well. The philanthropic support from the Lam family has exemplified the caring spirit for the seniors in our community that we are deeply grateful for.” said Queenie Choo, CEO of S.U.C.C.E.S.S.

S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Jackson Lam Adult Day Centre has the mission to provide quality day health services to seniors through integrated programs/services and bridging seniors with the community. The program plays a key role in allowing clients to continue living at home as long as possible, optimizing their level of physical, psycho-social and emotional functioning, and lower their rate of hospitalization. The Centre will be in operation in July 2017 and can accommodate 25 seniors per day Monday to Friday.

The budget for the capital cost of the new adult day centre is $500,000. In addition to the donation made by the Lam family, S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Multi-Level Care Society will raise funds from a series of events, including 2017 Goodwill Ambassador Charity Night on May 25, 2017 at the River Rock Show Theatre, Richmond.

S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Multi-Level Care Society was incorporated in 1995 with the goal of providing a continuum of culturally appropriate care for seniors. Since 2005, the Society has been accredited by Accreditation Canada, with the highest award – “Accredited with Exemplary Standing” both in 2011 and 2015. Programs and services include:
