Kindness Rocks Campaign Launches in Tri-Cities

Tri-Cities Region, BC – Kindness Rocks is coming to the Tri-Cities! From February 26th to March 21st, the Tri-Cities Together: Coalition against Racism & Hate, led by S.U.C.C.E.S.S., is spreading awareness on the ongoing need for kindness in our communities to tackle the impact of bigotry, intolerance and discrimination. Throughout the communities of Anmore, Belcarra, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam and Port Moody, imaginatively painted rocks, with messages of kindness and inclusion, will be found in public spaces, community parks and hiking/running trails.

“Kindness Rocks is exactly the campaign we need in our communities these days,” said S.U.C.C.E.S.S. CEO Queenie Choo. “Promoting intercultural communities, diversity and inclusion alongside creative and artistic works in our public spaces benefits everybody.”

Each rock will have a corresponding message, story or challenge for visitors. Once residents have found a rock, check out the corresponding message on www.tricitieslip.ca and share the message with your networks. Please feel free to tag S.U.C.C.E.S.S. via “@tricitieslip” on Facebook and on Instagram, or “@tc_lip” on Twitter, with a hashtag of #KindnessRocks.

S.U.C.C.E.S.S. would like to acknowledge our community partners and volunteers who’ve collaborated on this campaign: BC Farhangian Educators’ Association, City of Coquitlam, Coquitlam Continuing Education (Integrate Tri-Cities), Coquitlam Public Library, Coquitlam RCMP, Douglas College, Kinsight, MOSAIC, Port Moody Police, Sneaky Native Art, Spirit of the Children Society, Terry Fox Library, Tri-Cities Friends of Refugees Society, Tri-Cities TV, as well as individual stakeholders, artists and families who shared their talents, and most importantly, those who’ve shared and made public their personal stories and experiences about past issues facing discrimination.

This campaign is also made possible with support from the Province of British Columbia’s Multiculturalism Division.

2020 Bridge to S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Gala Focus is Seniors Services

Vancouver, BC – Seniors Services programs with S.U.C.C.E.S.S. will be the primary benefactor of the 2020 Bridge to S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Gala (Gala) held this upcoming February 29th, 2020 at The Westin Bayshore Hotel in Vancouver.

Building upon the event’s 41-year legacy, the 2020 Bridge to S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Gala will provide a luxurious night of philanthropy, entertainment and fine dining to well over 800 business and community leaders. The fundraising target for the event is $509,000.

“The continued, overwhelming support and contributions from our generous sponsors and donors have consistently been the driving force in making the Gala a resounding success year after year. We are proud to host the Bridge to S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Gala once again and strive to provide essential services in our communities,” said Queenie Choo, CEO of S.U.C.C.E.S.S. and S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation.

With a focus on Seniors Services, this year’s Gala will aim to serve seniors in their journey of aging, by assisting them to live fully and independently, and to maintain and enhance their quality of life.

“We aim to provide excellent and cultural appropriate services to seniors in their various stages of aging,” said Brandon Hui, Chair of S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation. “The 2020 Bridge to S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Gala will commemorate the positive work that S.U.C.C.E.S.S. performs on a daily basis. This year is a Leap Year, so our theme for the upcoming Gala is “One Small Step with S.U.C.C.E.S.S., One Giant Leap for the Community.” The festivities at the Gala will include cocktail receptions, exciting silent and live auctions for glamorous and luxurious items, and West Coast-inspired cuisine. The evening will be capped off with outstanding Canadian talent as well as engaging Chinese performances.”

As a companion activity for with the Gala, raffle ticket sales will bring in much needed funds for S.U.C.C.E.S.S. This year, the total value of raffle prizes reaches over $26,000. Raffle tickets are $5 each, or $50 for a book of tickets. Proceeds from raffle sales also go towards Seniors Services.
