S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Employment Services (SES) started to assist job seekers to overcome employment barriers in 1984. From job finding club service helping only Chinese Immigrants to prepare resumes, SES is now a culturally diverse service team providing career development guidance services for all job seekers. Based on social work values, SES has incorporated a client-centered, behavioural oriented case management model to serve clients. In addition to various programs and services, SES has also developed a virtual resource website to give job seekers easy access to online resources. This range has made SES more accessible and user friendly.

With a diverse team of staff in multiple locations across the Lower Mainland  and overseas in Taipei, Taiwan and Seoul, South Korea, SES delivers services in a culturally sensitive manner to job seekers regardless of their cultural background and level of English language skills. Using a holistic service model that brings individuals, community partners and employers together, SES has helped thousands of job seekers find employment of their choice in today's highly competitive labour market.

Individualized Case Management Support for Employers (ICMSE)

Individualized Case Management Support for Employers (ICMSE) project aims to enhance employers’ understanding of the needs and barriers of Internationally Trained Workers (ITWs) and help build welcoming, diverse, and inclusive workplaces in the Technology and Tourism/Hospitality sectors.
In addition to ongoing case management, ICMSE offers employer training workshops, various resources, and interactive & networking events, which empower employers to implement changes and actions to successfully hire, develop, and retain ITWs. The project also works and collaborates closely with other immigrant service organizations and professional associations to achieve the common goals.    

Eligibility Requirements:
Employers in the Technology sector
Employers in the Hospitality/Tourism sector

Discover Your Potential Program

Discover Your Potential Program (DYPP) at Surrey delivers employability skills training to youth (priority to refugees) between 15 to 30 years of age through classroom and work experience, over a 16-week period. Selected participants would also get WEEKLY ALLOWANCE during the program.

Project Based Training (PBT) – Information, Communication and Technology


S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Project Based Training (PBT) ICT – Information, Communication, and Technology aims to address the skills gaps between targeted participants and employer expectations. Training is provided as a combination of SUCCESS staff and Qualified Instructors from ICT field.  By incorporating best practices, the project supports participants to gain the required skills training to align with local employers needs that lead directly to employment.


Participants are recommended to attend an info-session prior to undergoing intake assessment interview.  4 intakes (10 participants each) are scheduled for each program throughout the year.


Eligibility Requirements:

  • A Canadian or Permanent Resident
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Unemployed and non-EI eligible
  • Working less than 20 hours per week
  • Not received parental / maternity EI in the past 5 years
  • Not currently in high school or post-secondary courses
  • Not currently participating in another provincially or federally funded labour market program

Project Based Training (PBT) – Office Administration


S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Project Based Training (PBT) aims to address the skills gap between targeted participants and employer expectations.  By incorporating best practices, the project supports participants to gain the required skills training and credentials aligned with local employer needs that lead directly to employment.


PBT – Office Administration program offers 5 weeks of comprehensive and intensive training followed by 2 weeks of job search support and further follow-ups.  The program provides skills training directly related to day-to-day office operation as well as for effective job search, employment and staying employed.  Topics of the training include labour market information, job search, interview skills, resume & cover letter, computing essentials, communication skills and accounting fundamentals (book-keeping).

By incorporating best practices, the project supports participants to gain the required skills training and credentials aligned with local employer needs that lead directly to employment.


PBT-Retail offers eligible participant access to Retail Council of Canada’s certified employee development program, which provides foundation and advanced skills necessary to become experts in all aspects of retail sales. The program also builds sound business skills to help participants achieve their retail career goals and effectively lead a team. Topics covered include customer service and sales, inventory, store appearance, leadership, marketing, security and safety, and more…


Eligibility Requirements:

  • A Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Unemployed and non-EI eligible
  • Working less than 20 hours per week
  • Not received parental / maternity EI in the past 5 years
  • Not currently in high school or post-secondary courses
  • Not currently participating in another provincially or federally funded labour market program
  • Must attend an intake interview assessment to be accepted into the PBT-Retail Training Program
