FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE AUGUST 27, 2010 S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation Announces New Board A new S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation Board was elected at its Annual General Meeting on August 26, 2010. Mrs. Maggie Ip was re-elected the Chair of S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation (2010-2011). The composition of the new S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation Board is as follows: S.U.C.C.E.S.S. S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation was incorporated in 2001 to raise funds essential for under-funded and non-funded programs as well as to manage endowments on behalf of S.U.C.C.E.S.S. and S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Multi-Level Care Society. Annual major fundraising events include the Gala Dinner, Charity Golf Tournament and the "Walk with the Dragon," one of Vancouver’s largest community-based fundraisers which draws over 12,000 individual and corporate participants. -30- Contact:

Mrs. Maggie Ip, Chair of S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation Mrs. Maggie Ip graduated from the University of Ottawa with a master's degree in education. She worked for the federal government in Ottawa before moving to Vancouver with her family in 1970. She is an educator by profession with 30 years of teaching experience. Mrs. Ip was elected a city councillor of Vancouver where she served a three-year-term. Mrs. Ip was the founding chair of S.U.C.C.E.S.S. in 1973 and B.C. Heritage Language Association in 1981. She has worked on the boards of many community organizations such as the United Way of the Lower Mainland, YWCA, Vancouver Public Library, Immigrant Services Society of B.C., Affiliation of Multicultural Societies and Service Agencies of B.C. and B.C. Heritage Language Association. Mrs. Ip was a member of the Canadian Multicultural Consultative Council and the B.C. Ministry of Education Chinese Curriculum Committee. Her awards for community service include the National Volunteer Award, Canada 125th Anniversary Award, Rotary Club's Paul Harris Award, and Vancouver Multicultural Society's Nora Lozovsky Award. In May 2010, she received the Top 25 Canadian Immigrants Award.-30- |
