MEDIA ADVISORY Press Conference: S.U.C.C.E.S.S. to Set Up Trust Account to Collect Funds for Richmond Fire Victims Vancouver, B.C. – S.U.C.C.E.S.S. would like to invite media to a press conference for updates from victims in the aftermath of the fire that recently occurred at the Heather Lee apartment in Richmond, B.C. Sunny Yuen, spokesperson of the building residents, will be present and available for interviews. Date: Wednesday, August 18, 2010 Time: 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Venue: Room 314, S.U.C.C. E.S.S. Social Service Centre, Dr. Dorothy Lam Building, 28 West Pender Street, Vancouver Facilitator: Tung Chan, CEO of S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Speaker: Sunny Yuen, Heather Lee building resident Currently the majority of the residents are seeking alternative housing options. After losing their homes and belongings during the fire, they are in need of food, clothing and other basic essentials. Many residents are low-income and nearly all of them are without home insurance prior to the fire. Others are new immigrants unfamiliar with community resources and systems, facing cultural as well as language barriers.
