Minister of Advanced Education and Labour Market Development Visited S.U.C.C.E.S.S.

Vancouver, B.C. – Honourable Moira Stilwell, Minister of Advanced Education and Labour Market Development, visited S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Surrey location on August 9. Welcomed by CEO Tung Chan and COO Thomas Tam, the Minister had a tour of the office, classrooms and child minding facility.

Hon. Moira Stilwell engaged in conversations with several English Language Services for Adults (ELSA) students and looked at students' work. Staff from Settlement Services also introduced the Minister to the variety of services offered at S.U.C.C.E.S.S, including Chinese Reading Club, Senior Calligraphy Club and Filipino Support Group.

S.U.C.C.E.S.S. has been providing government-sponsored English classes to newcomers since 1988 and settlement services since 1974. Located at 10090 152nd Street in Surrey, the site where the Minister’s visit took place has been serving clients since 2003.

Joined by S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Program Directors, Tung Chan and Thomas Tam, Hon. Moira Stilwell had a roundtable discussion about issues regarding the needs of immigrants and newcomers.
