An Experience They Will Never Forget
S.U.C.C.E.S.S. gives the gift of VANCOUVER 2010

Burnaby, BC – VANOC, BC Housing and Concord Pacific donated 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games tickets to S.U.C.C.E.S.S., one of the largest social service agencies in BC, as a token of appreciation for S.U.C.C.E.S.S.’s commitment of delivering housing and support services to multicultural clients for over 36 years.

S.U.C.C.E.S.S. in collaboration with BC Housing gave over 350 of the donated tickets to residents of the Orange Hall, a single room occupancy unit in the downtown eastside as well as residents of Hillside Gardens, a provincially owned supportive housing development managed and operated by S.U.C.C.E.S.S.

Many of the Hillside Gardens residents are low-income individuals or families or new to Canada who often struggle to find employment, affordable housing as well as a place in the community. S.U.C.C.E.S.S. helps make the transition to the residents’ new home and country as easy as possible by providing residents with employment assistance, counselling, personal support, parenting education and recreational opportunities.

Hillside Gardens’ resident Jason Kay was one recipient of donated tickets. He and three friends attended the Chinese vs. Russia Woman’s Hockey Game. Jason is a 23- year- old part-time student of the Institute for Professional Recording where he is hoping to become a professional singer/songwriter and music producer. Unable to afford regular housing, Jason moved into Hillside Gardens approximately 15 months ago where he lives with a roommate and takes advantage of the many services available through S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Jason was extremely excited when he was offered tickets to an event at the 2010 Olympic Games and said “the game was really fun to watch and after in the streets it was like a stampede of people,” and goes on to say “I would have never had this experience if it weren’t for the generosity of S.U.C.C.E.S.S. and BC Housing as I would not have ever been able to afford something like this.”

Without the support of S.U.C.C.E.S.S.,  people, like Jason, would not be able to afford schooling or other extra curricular activities that would enable them to become an integral part of society.

Founded in 1973, S.U.C.C.E.S.S. is one of the largest social service providers in British Columbia with over 20 locations and 2 overseas offices. For more details, please visit: http://www.success.bc.ca/.
