2010 S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Fundraising Gala – Vancouver’s Premier Event of the Year
Hopes to raise $450,000 for social programs and services in Metro Vancouver

Vancouver BC – Linda Wong and Winnie Leong, Co-Chairs of the 2010 S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Fundraising Gala, are pleased to announce this year’s Gala as being the most glamorous premier event of 2010. The Gala will take place at The Westin Bayshore, an award winning Vancouver hotel with panoramic views of the coastline and historic Stanley Park, happening Saturday, April 10, 2010.

The 2010 Gala will begin with a silent auction where guests will enjoy refreshments and hors’ d’oeuvres while they bid on a fabulous selection of wine, dinner gift certificates and unique apparel. Guests will then be seated for a dining experience they will never forget followed by an intimate concert featuring popular artists in the Asian entertainment arena. The evening will also include guest speakers from the three levels of government.

“This year we target to raise $450,000 in support of under-funded and unfunded S.U.C.C.E.S.S. programs that are designed to promote harmony in a dynamic multicultural community through education, training, care and resources,“ said Linda and Winnie.  For the 14th consecutive year, Air Canada takes helm as the Official Airline Sponsor while Lugaro Jewellers joins the event as the Silent Auction Pavilion Sponsor for the first time.

Guest speaker, Mr. Matthew Chan, introduced “New Life Force,” a program in development by the S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Family and Youth Department.  The purpose of the program is to raise public awareness on knowledge and skills of coping and preparing for life challenges.

Recognized as one of British Columbia’s largest social service providers and a multicultural, multi-service agency, S.U.C.C.E.S.S. has over 400 staff and 1600 active volunteers who deliver a multitude of services in the areas of settlement, employment, health and housing, business, economic and community development.

With over 20 locations, S.U.C.C.E.S.S., serves local communities in Metro Vancouver, Fort St. John and overseas in Taipei, Taiwan and Seoul, Korea.  In 2008-2009, over 173,000 client-services were provided to those in needs in the communities.  The current S.U.C.C.E.S.S. annual operating budget is $36 million, of which approximately 20% rely on income from S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation fundraising events, such as the Fundraising Gala, and S.U.C.C.E.S.S. program revenue.
