Philippines Surpassed China as the Lead Source Country for Immigrants:
S.U.C.C.E.S.S. 3rd Quarter Report

Vancouver, BC - As an unsung hero working behind the scene, Community Airport Newcomers Network (C.A.N.N.) of S.U.C.C.E.S.S. is a settlement program in Vancouver International Airport (YVR) that offers assistance to newly arrived immigrants and refugees to Canada. In the third quarter of 2009, C.A.N.N. has receiveced13,414 new immigrants at YVR, an increase of 9% from last year’s figure of the same period.  The Philippines has surpassed China as the lead source country for immigrants, accounting for 29% of new arrivals this quarter.  Myanmar (Burma) continues to be the top source country for refugees. New immigrants destined to the Prairies rise, especially those to Saskatoon rose by 55%.
