Emergency Relief for Typhoon Morakot
S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Locations Added to Collect Donation

Vancouver – In support of Tzu Chi Canada’s efforts in assisting the victims of Typhoon Morakot, effective immediately, S.U.C.C.E.S.S. will open its 8 service centres in Vancouver, Richmond, Tri-Cities and Surrey to accept donations from the public.

“There is a Chinese saying - When disaster struck, help came from all sides. As part of the community, we want to contribute,” said Tung Chan, CEO of S.U.C.C.E.S.S..

According to United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), Typhoon Morakot has caused over 650 people feared dead and more than 24,000 evacuated. As of August 19, 59 countries, including Canada, have provided aid assistance. Transportation infrastructure and potable water are identified as priority concerns.

“As of today, Tzu Chi Canada has raised C$1,080,000 and has begun preparing for a long term recovery plan. We hope everyone will give generously to help the victims in Taiwan rebuild their homes and lives that were destroyed by the typhoon,” said Peter Kuo, Vice CEO of Tzu Chi Canada
