Fort St John - With over 36 years experience in the settlement and employment service industry, S.U.C.C.E.S.S. is pleased to announce the Grand Opening of the new centre in Fort St. John BC, which greatly enhances service accessibility to residents of the Peace area.

All media are cordially invited to join us to learn about S.U.C.C.E.S.S. NISC’s settlement and employment programs and services, celebrate our success stories, and network with our prominent guests, multicultural staff, employers and service organizations.

Date:  Thursday, May 28th, 2009
Time:    11:30am – 2:00pm
Location:  S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Northern BC Newcomers Integration Service Centre – Fort St. John,
Suite 114, 9907 - 99th Ave

Conveniently located, in the Employment Connections Building, this centre provides top quality services through 2 new programs funded by the government:

Settlement, assisting new Canadians with their settlement and integration needs
Employment, working to connect professional new Canadians and employers in the north

“We are very proud to launch these new programs in the new northern location. The two programs are very unique and perfectly fit for both new and existing immigrants in the area,” said Thomas Tam, Acting CEO of S.U.C.C.E.S.S.

Started as a settlement service organization, S.U.C.C.E.S.S. has developed into a multi-service provider delivering settlement, counselling, group, employment, business and economic development services, as well as engaging in advocacy for positive social change.

“This is our first ever service centre in Northern BC. We are hoping to use our successful model in Metro Vancouver to benefit the local employers and potential employees from the new Canadian communities,” said Tam.

In addition to providing settlement service, S.U.C.C.E.S.S. is also working closely with the city and community to make Fort St John a more welcoming place for new Canadians through the Welcoming and Inclusive Communities Committee and multicultural events. In close collaboration with various levels of government and local employers through S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Employment Advisory Committee, the new program will assist employers in hiring and integrating new Canadians, as well as providing potential employees with insights, advice and training on the labour market in Northern BC.

“Through our different program activities, we connect new Canadians to local resources, encourage their participation in community events and assist them in making Fort St John their new home,” said Karina Chambers, Acting Program Manager, S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Fort St. John Office.

Founded in 1973, S.U.C.C.E.S.S. is one of the largest social service providers in British Columbia with over 20 locations and 2 overseas offices.
