Social Worker-Economist.

Ronald Ma has a bachelor's degree in Economics and Japanese studies, and a master's degree in social work.  He is a registered social worker (RSW) and is also a member of the National Career Development Association (NCDA).

Ronald has 30 years NGO management experience, including 20 years in employment services with S.U.C.C.E.S.S.  As the Director of Employment Services, Ronald is responsible for the planning and implementation of employment programs for job seekers from different ethnic background and with different employment needs. Leading a team of 50 career development practitioners, Ronald works closely with government funding bodies, employers and community partners to facilitate immigrants, job seekers, foreign trained professionals, abused women, the Aboriginals, at risk youth, Income Assistance recipients (especially those at DTES), to enter the Canadian labour market.

Ronald has extensive experience in economic / social research, strategic planning and social program implementation. He has been working at the Economic Research Centre (ERC) of the Chinese University of HK, where he involved in the study of HKGDP. He has also been working at a local bank in Hong Kong. Prior to joining S.U.C.C.E.S.S., Ronald was the Executive Secretary of the Boys' & Girls' Clubs Association of Hong Kong, where he established and supervised Hong Kong’s first Child Counselling Centre. He was also a part time Lecturer at the City University and the Vocational council in Hong Kong teaching social services, groupwork and social research. 

Ronald writes regularly for newspapers on labour; employment; workplace bullying; and culture issues. He has presented research papers at national and international conferences.  Some of his more recent studies include:

Ronald’s specialities include: Non-profit Organization Management, therapeutic groupwork, psychological / career counselling, community development and social research.

He is the author of “Career Success in Canada”.
