Ansar was born and raised in Hong Kong. She has a B.A. in psychology from the University of Victoria and a teaching certificate from Simon Fraser University. Before joining S.U.C.C.E.S.S., she was a high school teacher in Hong Kong. Over the last 20 years, Ansar has been working at S.U.C.C.E.S.S. managing settlement programs. She provides staff training and facilitates timely program changes to meet the needs of the community. With the high demand for labour market integration of newcomers, Ansar has also upgraded herself in employment related training. Because of her extensive experience and involvement in the settlement area, Ansar is often invited to sit on advisory committees. She is also consulted by media, researchers and government departments on various settlement issues. Ansar is a member of the professional organization, B.C.TEAL (Association of Teachers of English as an Additional Language). In addition to her involvement in the settlement sector, Ansar is very involved in church activities.
