Before you register a new business in BC, the first step is obtaining name approval. S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Business & Economic Development is one of the designated kiosks for your business name search and approval.   The cost of a name search is $45.

After a business name is approved, you may register your business name before it expires. 

What can the OSBR do for you?

• Application for Business Number Accounts (includes Corporate Tax, GST, Payroll Deductions and Import/Export Number)
• Application for PST Account
• Employer Registration with Workers Compensation Board
• Application for Personal Optional Protection with Workers Compensation Board

OSBR can be used by sole-proprietors, partners, co-operatives, corporations, incorporated societies and associations.  Using OSBR saves your time and trouble in mailing the applications to different government agencies.   

Business owners simply register at an OSBR kiosk providing OneStop e-services or at home using Internet by visiting http://www.bcbusinessregistry.ca/.  Depending on your requirements, the registration process usually takes less than an hour to complete.
