Before you register a new business in BC, the first step is obtaining name approval. S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Business & Economic Development is one of the designated kiosks for your business name search and approval.   The cost of a name search is $45 (Cash or cheque payable to S.U.C.C.E.S.S., no credit card please).

After a business name is approved, you may register your business name before it expires. 

What can the OSBR do for you?

• Business Name Registration/Declaration for Proprietorship or Partnership
• Application for Business Number Accounts (includes Corporate Tax, GST, Payroll Deductions and Import/Export Number)
• Application for PST Account
• Employer Registration with Workers Compensation Board
• Application for Personal Optional Protection with Workers Compensation Board

OSBR can be used by sole-proprietors, partners, co-operatives, corporations, incorporated societies and associations.  Using OSBR saves your time and trouble in mailing the applications to different government agencies.   

Business owners simply register at an OSBR workstation in our office or at home using Internet by visiting http://www.bcbusinessregistry.ca/.  Depending on your requirements, the registration process usually takes less than an hour to complete.
