S.U.C.C.E.S.S. believes that immigrant parents of young children (0-6 years old) should have access to culturally appropriate Early Childhood Development (ECD) resources to help build the foundation of their children’s development.

This project provides services for families with children ages 0-6 who reside in the Tri-cities area and are primarily from three different ethnic communities (Korean, Farsi and Chinese).

Professional Staff:
Our Multicultural Early Childhood Development hold degrees (Bachelor, Master, PhD) in Family and Childhood Development, Counselling Psychology, Social Work, Family Studies, and Psychology.  We ensure our staff members maintain ongoing development and training to keep their knowledge up-to-date.

Confidentiality:
We practice high standards of professional conduct and maintain strict confidentiality for all clients  except under the following circumstances: (1) under a court order; (2) incidence of child abuse, or (3) danger to self or others.

Objectives:

• Increase parents’ awareness of the importance of early childhood development
• Inform families about existing early childhood development resources and services
• Assist parents to utilize available services

Advisory Committee:
The program is planned and implemented under the guidance of an Advisory Committee comprised of major early childhood development service providers in the Tri-cities area.

Service:

• Consultation/support to service providers
  This activity is to increase the cultural competence of service providers through consultation and training
• Bridging services
  This service provides practical support to parents in accessing early childhood development services in the Tri-cities area
• Nobody’s Perfect Parenting Program (Chinese) (Korean) (Farsi)
  This Program is an 8-session preventive parenting education and support program which intends to improve parents’ capabilities to maintain and promote the health of their preschool children. It assists parents to develop the knowledge, skills and self-confidence that are so essential to child-raising. Equally important, it encourages the development of support networks among families and friends.
• Parent-Child Mother-Goose Program (Chinese)
  This Program is an 8-week class, meeting for a magical afternoon of lyrics and lullabies, which are full of affection, inflection, fingerplays, bounces and tickles. The program uses no books, bland name, toys, puppets or music; just you, and your child with other parents and children, learning through repetition, various songs, rhymes and stories in a comfortable environment. Snacks will be provided and childminding is available for siblings.
• Parenting Club/Support Group (Chinese) (Korean)
  Parents get together for sharing, discussion and workshops on topics like child safety, child development, discipline and etc. Snack and child care will be provided.
• Family Support and Resources Referral (Chinese)
  This service is an information giving service and it helps clients connect with other parents and resources in the community.
