Tri-cities,
|
Not sure what to do for the rest of your life take …..
A chance to choose
Tri-cities, A chance to choose
To qualify you must;
• be between the ages of 15 and 30,
• be not working and not eligible for employment insurance
• have little or no work experience
• have left school
A chance to choose will give you an opportunity to develop the essential employability skills that all businesses require. The employability skills have been fully researched and recommended by the Conference Board of Canada as skills needed to enter, stay in and progress in the world of work.
The nine essential employability skills are; oral communications, document use, reading text, working with others, thinking skills, writing, computer use, numeracy, and continuous learning. You will develop these skills while you create and implement a community project with the rest of the participants in A chance to choose.
Once you have completed the community project you will have a skills based employment portfolio and an action plan which identifies your chance to choose;
• what type of career path best suits you or
• if you are ready to move into job search or
• need further education, knowledge or training.
A chance to choose will be 30 hours per week for 15 weeks. While you are learning and having fun developing employability skills you will receive a training allowance of $240 per week for the 15 weeks that you are taking…A chance to choose.
