S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Added Olympics Excitement to Chinatown

People living in or visiting the downtown core area joined in on the Winter Olympics action in Vancouver Chinatown during February 15 to 20.

Business Promotion and Olympic Celebration: Vancouver Chinatown and Winter Olympics – What’s On was organized by S.U.C.C.E.S.S. with funding from the City of Vancouver. The free activity at the S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Social Service Building in Chinatown was designed to arouse excitement in the Winter Games for local residents, to create a sense of community and to provide insight into Chinatown’s wonderful history and cultural heritage.

Residents and tourists enjoyed snacks and refreshments while they watched the 2010 Olympic Winter Games broadcast on a giant projection screen, and live cultural performances. They then walked through the booths set up by the Chinatown Merchant Association, Business Improvement Association, Chinese Revitalization Committee, Chinese Cultural Centre and S.U.C.C.E.S.S. on Chinatown’s heritage and its future prospects, as well as its many resources available to immigrants and Canadians. The more active visitors even engaged in some friendly Nintendo Wii game competitions on site.
